A lot of people think stripping is all about dunking something in a big vat and pulling out a clean, fresh wood. If only that were the case!

We do have the capacity to “dip” strip in immersion processes. This type of stripping has been stigmatized sometimes for the results that are generated when the method is misapplied or with unskilled hands. This treatment is not applicable to fine furniture or many of immense variety of coating types present today. However, it can be a great resource for particular coatings which do not react to other methods, and is very handy on many architectural items and products made from certain wood species.

St. Louis Restoration carefully evaluates the items to be processed and apply various methods, sometimes various methods on the same items, to loosen and remove the coatings. We can strip the most delicate veneers without damage, we can strip multiple layers of paint and varnish to uncover the beautiful original wood underneath. Yes, we also strip metal products.
