Now the piece is assembled, checked over for aesthetics and function. Notice all the grain is aligned? Then repair and reinstall fancy appliques. And then to witness the natural color with the first sealer coat. This is the part where you hold your breath for an hour straight - its a refinishers skill used to make sure there are no defects when the base coat reveals them!!

Made a new top from laminated veneer core, the old stave core was wrong by design for expansion and contraction, plus warped in every direction imaginable. This top is stable, in line with grain on the rest of the piece, and my personal fave - axial oriented top grain rather than traditional left-to-right.

Selecting and matching panels so the grain lines are perfectly flowing through the piece. Butterfly grain on side panels, all drawers matching just right. Then, of course, installing.

This piece required complete disassembly down to individual components. Scenes like this are probably why they doctors don't let family watch the surgery. This piece will be reconstructed with new veneered panels.

To think what it took to build this double active door from scratch, and to install it in the rough opening with no shims, no adjustments, and everything in perfect alignment from the top line to the sweep clearance. This door set has no adjustments or aligning/concealing astragal either. What a relief to get it in and match perfectly with existing architectural lines. Doors are 3' wide each and 8ft tall btw. What can we build for you?

Vacuum sealed for freshness so your 100 year old Miracle door will still have all the veneer pressed tight when you are ready for your 2020 renovation! Only about 1700pounds of pressure on each square foot like this. Nice and flat. #bigziplock
