Now the piece is assembled, checked over for aesthetics and function. Notice all the grain is aligned? Then repair and reinstall fancy appliques. And then to witness the natural color with the first sealer coat. This is the part where you hold your breath for an hour straight - its a refinishers skill used to make sure there are no defects when the base coat reveals them!! #stlrestorerepairs #stlrestorerefinishing #stlrestorecasegoods #stlrestorecanmakeit

Made a new top from laminated veneer core, the old stave core was wrong by design for expansion and contraction, plus warped in every direction imaginable. This top is stable, in line with grain on the rest of the piece, and my personal fave - axial oriented top grain rather than traditional left-to-right. #stlrestorerepairs #stlrestorerefinishing #stlrestorecanmakeit #stlrestorecasegoods
